SUBJECT: Format for World Team Trials
The following is the Trials format (minimum 3 day event) that the BOG approved in March 2002 and modified in October, 2002.

Qualifying Round

Double 18 meter FITA Round (60 arrows at 18m, Vertical 40cm face)
Based on the results of the qualifying round the field of competitors will be cut as follows:

All categories with 16 or more archers will cut to the top sixteen (16)   Each archer will shoot against each other archer in the category once.

In the event there are fewer than 16 archers in a category, the category will be cut to 8 archers. Each archer will shoot against each other archer in the category twice.

If there are fewer than 8 archers in a category, that category will be cut to 4 archers.  Each archer will shoot against each other archer in the category four times.

Round Robin 1
Group of 16 - First 8 matches of the fifteen-match Round Robin event
Group of 8 - First 7 matches of the fourteen-match Round Robin event
Group of 4 - First 6 matches of the twelve-match Round Robin event
Matches will be twelve-arrow matches consisting of four three-arrow ends. Time will be allowed for equipment failure according to FITA Rule 8.4.2.5 and 8.4.2.6

Round Robin 2
Group of 16 - Last 7 matches of the fifteen-match Round Robin event
Group of 8 - Last 7 matches of the fourteen-match Round Robin event
Group of 4 - Last 6 matches of the twelve-match Round Robin event

Tie Resolution Procedures -  Ties at the cut-off position and Round-Robin match ties will be resolved according to FITA Rule 8.6.5.2    Ties in accumulated points for last team position will be resolved by 12-arrow match (3 arrow ends) followed by shoot-off, if necessary.

Standings

Standings will be determined by total points shot in the trials (excluding tie-breaking arrows) plus two (2) bonus points for each match won {under RR1 and RR2}

Group of 16 - Round Robin 240 arrows + 30 possible bonus pts - 2430 possible accumulated points
Group of 8 - Round Robin 228 arrows + 28 possible bonus pts - 2308 possible accumulated  points
Group of 4 - Round Robin 204 arrows + 24 bonus pts = 1932 possible accumulated points

TEAM SELECTION

Top three (3) archers in each category (Junior and Senior categories). will comprise the 2003 U.S. World Indoor Team. The 4th ranked archer in each category will be the alternate.

Official Practice Starts promptly at above listed shooting times.
Unofficial Practice Available in JMU Archery Team Indoor Practice Room Godwin Room 135 for a fee of $5 for unlimited practice from 1pm Friday to 4pm Sunday.

Target Faces: All competitors will shoot the "Vertical 3-Spot" target

Directions
From North: I-81 South to Harrisonburg.take Exit 245.Turn right at top of ramp on to Port Republic Rd.  Take next right into JMU.Godwin Hall 1/2  mile on left (before RR tracks)
From South: I-81 North to Harrisonburg.take Exit 245.Turn left at top of ramp on to Port Republic Rd.  Take next right into JMU.Godwin Hall 1/2 mile on left (before RR tracks)

 Reception/Party Planned - Don't Miss It! A Special Get-Together is being planned for Saturday evening for your enjoyment. Refreshments and Live Entertainment will be provided.
