2007 World Indoor Team Trials (WITT 2007)

**NOTE: I have been made aware that the NArchival Archery has chosen to not pay the costs of *any* archer to attend the World Indoor Championships in Turkey.  There is to be no funding whatsoever, regardless of place finish in the WITT.  (webmaster, 12/30/2006.)

This additional qualifying round, hosted by the A 10’s, is held to give archers an opportunity to complete 2 full qualifying rounds before the funding period expires on January 14, 2007.

General Tournament Information – The 9th FITA World Indoor Championships will be held in Izmir, Turkey from March 13-17, 2007. If you are interested in representing the United States at this prestigious event, you must participate in the World Indoor Trials, which will be hosted by the A 10’s Archery Club in Hillsboro, A.

Event Format:

All archers will shoot a Qualifying Round (18m FITA I Indoor Round) of 60 arrows at 18 meters at a Vertical 3-spot 40cm face. At the completion of the Qualifying Round categories will be cut to 16 archers for the Round Robin matches. In categories with fewer than 16 archers, the category will be cut to 8. If there are fewer than 8 archers in a category, it will be cut to 4. Any position ties will be resolved according to FITA Rule 8.6.5.1. Ties for entrance into the Round Robin matches will be resolved according to FITA Rule 8.6.5.2.1. In categories of 16, each archer will shoot against every other archer in the category once (15 matches). In groups of 8, each archer will shoot against every other archer in the category twice (14 matches). In groups of 4, each archer will shoot against every other archer four times (12 matches).

FITA Rule 4.5.2.6 states Vertical triple faces will be mandatory for the Indoor World Championship. Therefore, the U.S. World Trials format will uphold FITA Rule 4.5.2.6 and make it mandatory that all archers shoot at a Vertical 3-spot 40cm face.

In the effort to keep the event on schedule and save time, archers will be permitted to inspect their targets during the tournament and change them if deemed necessary by the judges.

Category of 16 – First 5 matches of the fifteen match Round Robin Event

Category of 8 – First 5 matches of the fourteen match Round Robin Event

Category of 4 – First 5 matches of the twelve match Round Robin Event

Category of 16 – Next 5 matches of the fifteen match Round Robin Event

Category of 8 – Next 5 matches of the fourteen match Round Robin Event

Day 2: Round Robin 3

Category of 16 – Last 5 matches of the fifteen match Round Robin Event

Tie Resolution Procedures - Any position ties will be resolved according to FITA Rule 8.6.5.1 (10’s & 9’s). Ties at the cut-off position and Round Robin match ties will be resolved according to FITA Rule 8.6.5.2 (single arrow shootoff). Ties in accumulated points for last team position will be resolved by 12-arrow match (3 arrow ends) followed by shoot-off, if necessary.

Standings - Total points shot in the Trials (excluding tie-breaking arrows), plus tow (2) bonus points for each match won, will determine standings (under RR1 and RR2)

Category of 16 – Qualifying Round + Round Robin (240 arrows) + 30 possible bonus pts = 2430 possible accumulated points.

Category of 8 – Qualifying Round + Round Robin (228 arrows) + 28 possible bonus pts =2308 possible accumulated points.

Category of 4 – Qualifying Round + Round Robin (204 arrows) + 24 possible bonus pts = 2064 possible accumulated points.

Team Selection - The top three (3) archers in each category will comprise the 2007 U.S. World Indoor Team. The 4th ranked archer in each category will be the alternate. The NArchival Archery will  NOT fund - all places will be self-funded which means that the archer will have to pay all expenses associated with representing the US at the World Indoor Championships.  (provided qualifying scores are met) the top (2) senior and junior male and top (2) senior and junior female archers in both compound and recurve disciplines. All other team members will be self-funded. Juniors are those born on or after January 1, 1989.

Team Information - The team will travel to Izmir, Turkey for the Championships to be held March 13-17, 2007.

Exact travel dates and funding information will be discussed during a Team Meeting on Sunday, January 14, 2007, immediately after the team is selected. The cost for self-funded team members to attend the World Indoor Championships will be determined.

Drug Testing – The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency will conduct drug testing at this event.

Dress Code – The NArchival Archery Dress Code will be enforced during all phases of the trial event.
