| World Indoor Team Trials Results There will be a world indoor archery championship in Aalborg, Denmark, on March 22nd thru 27th. Recently, the very best U.S. archers met in Hillsboro, A to shoot it out for the honor of representing US in Denmark. The A 10s JOAD archery club used a converted ex-Walmart building to host the event, and by all accounts it was a very effective shoot. The results have been posted on the Archival Archery website. More than 200 photos have also been posted. And as an added bonus, there are a number of short movies of some great archers' executions that you can view right on your computer!Here's the NArchival Archery release by Mary Beth Vorwerk: COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (January 18, 2005) - The 2005 World Indoor Team Trials were held this past weekend in Hillsboro, A with 24 archers being selected to represent the United States at the 8th World Indoor Championships in Aalborg, Denmark March 22-27. In the Senior Recurve Division, number one ranked, two-time Olympian Vic Wunderle (Mason City, Ill.), forty-nine year old four-time Olympian Butch Johnson (Woodstock, Conn.) and Staten Holmes (San Antonio, A) will represent the men. Number one ranked 2004 Olympian Jennifer Nichols (Cheyenne, Wyo.) along with her younger sister Amanda (Cheyenne, Wyo.) and Kathie Loesch (Sugarland, A) round out the team for the women. Jennifer Nichols was a silver medalist at the last World Indoor Championships held in France in 2003. On the compound side, 2003 World Target Championship Gold Medalists Reo Wilde (Pocatello, Idaho) and Dave Cousins (Standish, Maine) along with Rod Menzer (Sheboygan, Wis.) make up the team for the Senior Men. Wilde earned two gold medals at the 2003 World Indoor Championships. For the compound women, number one ranked Jamie Van Natta (Toledo, Ohio) along with 2003 World Target Champions Mary Zorn (College Station, A) and Amber Dawson (Robesonia, Pa.) will compete for the U.S. on the World Indoor Team. The Junior Recurve Team will consist of 2005 United States Archery Team (USAT) member Daniel Schuller (Mercer, Pa.), Aaron Tedford (Great Falls, Mont.) and Josh Anderson (College Station, A) for the boys and 2005 USAT members Lindsay Pian (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Margot Stuchin (New York, N.Y.) along with Stephanie Rowland (Orchard Park, N.Y.) for the girls. Making up the Junior Compound Team will be 2005 USAT members David Roth (Lowell, Mich.), Stephen Schwade (Monroe, N.Y.) and Brady Ellison (Glendale Ariz.) for the boys and 2005 USAT members Aprilyn Witt (Wadell, Ariz.) and Erika Anschutz (Grand Island, Neb.) along with Tiffany Reeves (Helena, Mont.) for the girls. The coaching staff for the World Indoor Championships will be Mark Penaz (Phoenix, Ariz.) who will serve as the Head Coach along with Assistant Coaches Alexander Kirillov (Tucson, Ariz.), Larry Skinner (Moberly, Mo) and Larry Wise (Mifflintown, Pa.). Teresa Michael (Boynton Beach, Fla.) will serve as Team Leader and Kathy Adams (Helotes, A) will be the Assistant Team Leader. LATE BREAKING NEWS: Margot Stuchin will not be able to participate so the alternate, A archer Andrea Garner will be joining other A archers Staten Holmes and Josh Anderson in Denmark. |

| A State Senior and JOAD Indoor Tournaments and Upcoming Events As Well The A JOAD Indoor Championship was a record-breaker, with 91 young gents and ladies competing in Columbus. This was without a doubt the most well organized JOAD event. Greg and Deborah Petrosky headed up a volunteer organization that covered ALL of the bets. For example, they were able to solicit local businesses to support the event by purchasing a whitetail target butt and stand for their group in exchange for a logo sign on the base of the stand. Can you imagine furnishing your JOAD with 10 brand new target butts and stands, all paid for? When you have all the bases covered, the event will go really well. Twenty-two State records set, and two tied, indicate that we have a great group of youth archers up and coming!The State Senior Indoor Championship was held at UT the weekend following, and the 76 archers managed to set another 32 records (!). The results and a few photos have been posted, of course.This coming weekend is the A episode of the National Indoor Championship, which will be happening in College Station at A&M. This event is held around the country at various venues over the next 4 weekends. The next tournament IS A SURPRISE EVENT. Tom Barker realized that the month of March was completely empty of archery events, and is putting together a return of the TEXAS YOUTH OPEN, also known as the Top Gun! This event will give youth archers great experience in shooting the Olympic Round style competition. It will be a qualifier on a Saturday, with a head-to-head round robin event on the Sunday. This was a huge success the last time held, and with Tom Barker organizing things it is sure to be a success. Click here to read more on this event and to, of course, register online for it. Read how you, even if you are not in A, can PAINLESSLY contribute to the AA's archery support program at no cost and very little effort to you. | State Annual Meeting The Archival Archery Annual Meeting Minutes have been posted. These include a great summary by Tom Barker of the JOAD performances in 2004. In short, the Archival Archery is in good shape, JOAD archers in A really did incredibly well in national and international competitions, the website is sustaining a lot of traffic from more than 80 countries around the world, and the Hosford continues to grow. |

| Congrats to Anita and Jim Kreuger! The NArchival Archery has named Jim and Anita as the Volunteer Coaches of the year for 2004. Here are the NAA's words on the subject: The Volunteer Coaches of the Year honors have been awarded to Jim and Anita Krueger (Blessing, A). Jim and Anita coach youth archery in a rural area of Southeast A and in the last 17 years the husband and wife team has produced some superbly talented archers. Jim and Anita have demonstrated time and again that they are able to take young students, introduce them to archery, and then develop them into national and internationally ranked athletes. Their program has become a significant part of the USA Archery pipeline and their passion for the sport and their selfless dedication to archers clearly demonstrates the true spirit of volunteerism. Congratulations are definitely in order, as well as a hearty thank you! |
