Larry Skinner's Website
I finally took the plunge into the digital age and started a website for myself!
I have been coaching for a long time and I wanted a way to reach out to the archery community. Please feel free to look around and explore. For those archers looking for a coach, look no further! I am fully qualified to teach Recurve, Compound, Traditional, Long Bow and pretty much any other discipline you can throw at me. I have taught archers from beginner to World and Olympic team members. Take a look at my Current link to see some of the archers I have been coaching. I live in a quiet town in Missouri where I have a fully equipped Training Facility that allows for shooting throughout the year. If you are interested in learning how to shoot please see my Contact page and get back to me however you see fit. Thanks for stopping by!

Johnson Grips
are handmade in Garland A. Our desire is to provide you with the best
feeling, looking and functional grip on the market. For to long there were few
options available to the archer. We have changed that. You no longer have to
accept an uncomfortable stock grip, or the less than perfect mass produced
aftermarket grips. We will custom build a grip to your specifications! You have
the choice of materials, shape, style and thickness. To visit the Johnson
Grips website, use this link.
They have made BEST bowgrips for custom archers.

SureShot Archery is a
year-round professional school of archery located in Humble, TX. Our head
coach,
Edward Vargas, is a NArchival Archery Certified Level 3 coach.
Current class times are Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday at 4:30 pm, and Monday &
Tuesday at 6:30 pm. Classes are filled on a first come first served basis and
limited to 10 young archers. Once registered for a class, I ask that you stay
with that day and time for the season. If a situation arises and you need to
bring your young archer to a different class, just call me and let me know. I’m
pretty flexible. All equipment is provided. I have 20 bows from 15 to 35
pounds and from 54 to 66 inches. Parents don’t need to worry about buying
anything until they and their young archer are ready.
The cost for the classes is $55 per month per archer during the
school year and pro-rated per week during the summer. We have scoring rounds at
the end of each month so the young archers have the opportunity to advance in
the JOAD rankings. We also require that young archers new to the sport have at
lease one private lesson before beginning the JOAD program. The cost of a
private lesson is $25. The private lesson allows the coach to help the young
archer become comfortable with the shooting process on a one-to-one level. The
private lesson also lets our coach get to know the young archer and to learn how
to best teach the young archer. Each child is an individual and each responds
to different methods.
ARCHERY SHOT
EXECUTION
From the book, Archery Shot Execution, by Larry Skinner with
Jim Noble, in the chapter titled 'Philosophy of Shooting':
"Executing a well shot arrow is not difficult once you learn the correct
technique. In fact, a well shot arrow appears almost effortless when you execute
your shot using total muscle control. Learning this on your own is not an easy
task. The key to the shot is to learn proper shot execution. Others may
emphasize......."

PERSONAL ARCHERY COACHING
&
Our job at Loesch Enterprises is to provide you with a grip that will allow
you to get the absolute best from the bow you have purchased. In other words, we make you happy with the bow you have spent your hard
earned money on. We have developed design shapes that have proven
successful in REDUCING TORQUE while providing proper support for a
secure feel and help in a consistent hand position, shot after shot.
The right grip can give you more points than any sight, release, stabilizer,
or arrow rest out there!
Your grip is the only place you touch the bow. It has to be right. That is what we do.
Note from Webmaster: James has made BEST-style bowgrips.
I have another website that I would like everyone to know about along with
Bowgrips.com. It is
Truebacktension.com and it is a new innovative release aid
I have developed to help shooters end punching by making them pull to make the
release fire.
PERSONALIZED ARCHERY COACHING
My name is James Loesch. I am a Level III NArchival Archery certified coach located in Houston, TX. I instruct in ALL types of archery with any age archer. My students have included Olympic, World, and PanAm Team members as well as numerous National Champions.
I myself have competed at a world class level in Olympic style archery earning 12 National Championships and have also earned a National Championship with compound.
I know what it takes to achieve in archery. I have also fought my way out of serious low points to
excel at a high level (The records are still on the books). I have had a vast array of experiences in archery. I use that experience to make my students better archers and people.
My Philosophy:
My job is to help you find YOUR form...that is natural and repeatable without having to think about 15 things at once...the big picture. Everyone is different and I don't teach any two students the same.
I also encourage the question: WHY?
I want my students to do things because they believe they are right for them. No student should do something simply because "my coach told me to." It is my job to earn my student's trust. If I can explain my case to their satisfaction, they will believe in it...not do it because I told them to.
My prime objective in coaching is to make sure my students enjoy archery. When you enjoy archery, you will shoot more...When you shoot more, you get better at it...when you get better, it is more fun. See how it works?
I have seen too many people leave our sport because it was no longer fun. It almost happened to me. I can help!
James Loesch
I also want to make sure all members are aware that I offer one-on-one
lessons in the Houston area for any age, any discipline at $40/hr. I can also
have students come in for a weekend for $400. Students are welcome to stay in
our home for the weekend with instruction from Friday evening to Sunday
afternoon.
We are also working on setting up after school and summer classes with up to 6
students per class for one hour once or twice per week at $20 per session.
